“To some, Townshend Audio was the maker of the innovative Rock turntable. To others, it was the company behind the Glastonbury loudspeaker. More modern listeners might think of Townshend Audio in terms of its vibration isolation products, its super tweeters, its autotransformer-coupled preamplifiers or its unique cable range. In fact, it’s all of these things and more.
Townshend Audio has been designing innovative products for the last five decades, many of which are the sort of ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ ideas that it takes someone with a spot of true left-field genius to create. For example, most of us would see a couple of paving slabs and an inner tube from a car tyre and think ‘junk’, but Townshend Audio sees a self-levelling vibration isolation platform in the making.
